Should that be “veries?”
“When pluralizing a noun ending in y preceded by a consonant, change the y to i and add es.”
Sister Mary Margaret. (No relation to Merry Margueritem, I should think.)
Wait…”very” is not a noun, it’s an adverb! How do you pluralize an adverb? Not even Strunk and White have the answer to this one.
How will any of us be able to sleep tonight?
For the space fans: The Shuttle just passed overhead…the booms were so loud it nearly knocked me off my chair.
This is probably the last flight for Atlantis.
I agree, also, Ray C & flyingflowerpot, “Beautiful” is beautiful, but also sad…I knew a child like that once upon a time, and visited many times at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco (inoperable brain tumor). Don’t mean to rain on anyone’s parade, but it’s so depressing, and at the same time so amazing, to see how brave and strong those small children really are…
(Would also like to say how much I admire the medical staff there and in like places - they are also amazing - I could never do it.)

In her count, it looks like Ms. Burritt forgot to count the one in the lower right corner. After all, isn’t “verys” in today’s FA?

There’s no such thing as monsters. They’re a very tale.

The size of that monster varies.
