I never did understand the concept. I go in. If itās down and I need it up, I lift it. If itās up and I need it down, I lower it. chances are that the position I leave it in is the position Iāll need it in the next time.
Anyone who owns small animals tends to put the seat down. It is no fun dealing with an angry, soaking wet cat who is running all over the house in full kitty-freak-out mode.
We must be the exception to the rule. Around our house, when we are done with the āpottyā, the seat and lid are down before we flush. We do this to reduce the amount of āmistā created during the flushing process from escaping the bowl area!
Iām sure none of you thought about this; well, Iāll bet you will nowā¦
In our house, with 3 kids under 5, put it down. Itās easier to put it to the necessary position than to try to revive a kid who fell in head first! None of the kids drowned when my head was turned for an instant, thank goodness, and they all survived to grow into adultsā¦and the habit still is ingrained in our house.

Ladies, itās not our fault that we leave the seat up, itās your fault for blindly sitting without first looking to see if itās down.

Supposedly the way to dry out a phone that gets dropped in the toilet, is to put it in rice to absorb all the moistureā¦

Miss Manners long ago gave the proper answer to seat up/down: a civilized person leaves the lid down.

Iāve come across the perfect solution (besides living alone) to this argument, and it happened because someone didnāt do the math properly.
My bathroom door does not open with the seat down. It just barely clears the rim with the seat up.
