While you’re at it, Lio, can you go back to 18 NOvember 1985 which is Calvin and Hobbes’ debut? Oh, wait. GoComics already has all the strips thereof.

Opus debuted in 2003. So why does the time machine say 1989?

That’s Bloom County, that ended its run in 1989. Opus was a later spinoff off :)

Hey Lio, go back really far back in time and bring back Krazy Kat.

If you expect to rate a welcome home then do not expectorate in the time machine test zone.

Though Bloom County 2015 is posted by B.B. only over on that social networking site, I am happy to learn how the reappearance of Bill the Cat and Opus came about: we owe it all to Lio!Hail, Lio, Restorer of the Comic Cosmos!

Please bring back the Far Side as well….

The difference between Bloom County coming back, and any of those other strips, is that Berke Breathed is still alive and doing the strips himself. Most of the other strips would be drawn by others. Or, to quote an old Bloom County strip on this very subject: “THIEVES! IMPOSTERS! UN-PERSONATORS!”, as said by Pogo himself just before being dragged off by the syndicate to have his face put on a Burger King glass.

That being said, I would be beside myself with glee if Waterson and Larson got back into the cartooning game. Heck, I even enjoyed that brief Pogo reboot from the late 80’s/early 90’s (the art was fantastic)

i have a chunk of the pogo reboot included with a fanzine i subscribed to for a while. still trying to figure out what to do with it. i haven’t had the heart so far to chuck it out

Be careful what you wish for. Pogo was inimitable. Even Kelly couldn’t keep it up; the last ten years or so, except for the Pandemonia sequence (based on his early advertisements for…was it Gulf Oil?), were pretty blah. And the posthumous Selby Kelly strips were godawful. I recall the Doyle & Sternecky revival as being excellently drawn but not especially written. And Tumbleweeds wasn’t very good in its last years either. What Watterson, Larson, and Breathed might feel like producing today could have little to do with what made them great in the first place. Though one can dream….

And we do have panels like Bizarro and Non Sequitur that are as good in their own weird ways as Far Side was.

Make that ‘not especially well written’. And Speed Bump (which is brilliant), not so much Non Sequitur (which is just very good).
