Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for August 04, 2015

Transcript:
Calvin: "Hey, there's no butter in the butter dish! My toast will get cold while I get another stick from the fridge!"
Calvin: "HAVEN'T I SUFFERED ENOUGH?? WHERE WILL IT ALL END?!?"
Calvin: "Mr. and Mrs. empathy"
The way to do it is to soften the butter in the microwave before even starting the toast. That way the butter is perfectly spreadable when the toast pops out.
SERIOUS ALERT: Don’t read this comment if you want your comic to be reality free.*“Calvin, your Mom and Dad are trying to live a drama free life; please cooperate.”*LWP – But this is serious— don’t we all shamefully fixate on 1st world problems (that poor Cecil) while human lives in Syria and Central Africa and Guatemala are needlessly being lost and we say nothing?
Yes—I often spend about 5-10 minutes preparing to prepare breakfast—checking (and making) coffee, checking butter, cleaning up the counter, etc. Life is tough!

If Calvin keeps this up, he will be toast.

Panel 3 really emphasizes the height difference between Calvin and his parents. He is only 1/3 their height, so he is two feet tall or less.

Learning to Bear Life’s Burdens is part of growing Up, but Cold Toast and unmelted Butter may just be a Burden to great to be Carried by Oneself!
