As the War On Drugs has shown us trying to cut off the supply is almost hopeless, it is far better to cut off the demand and the supply will dry up.

All we have to do is actually inforce the laws that are already on the books, and start fining and, maybe even, jailing those who hire illegials – then maybe they will check to make sure the people they hire have green cards.

Do you really want to open that can of worms? I mean, not using your money to pay for something you don’t agree with.

The best way to cut off demand is legalization. That is a slippery slope. But it would generate insanely vast sums of tax revenue - while curtailing arms and human trafficing while severely denting the cross-boarder cartels.

Didn’t the French build a wall in the late 30’s? Did not work out to good for them.

We should build an attractive architect-designed wall and make it a tourist attraction like the Great Wall of China.

benbrilling, that’s the most bi-partisan suggestion to this problem that I’ve heard yet. And besides, imagine all the jobs that would be created to build the thing. Talk about stimulus, that border is over a thousand miles.

Aren’t there like … bodies in the Great Wall of China … like in the Pyramids?

No bodies in the pyramids, except for the Pharaohs’. The Egyptian workers got decent burials according to their rank.

Don’t know about the great wall.

There are lots of bodies incorporated into Hoover Dam however.

Don’t be naive. The reason there are huge numbers of undocumented aliens is that neither political faction wishes to stop the practice.

For business it represents an unlimited flow of cheap labor.

For liberals it represents a huge number of votes.

BTW, don’t pretend that they can’t vote. Here in NYS, for humanitarian purposes, they are actually given legal documentation. And remember you can’t ask for documents to be allowed to vote (see Indiana)

^^God Lib1 how many times do we have to tell you ILLEGAL ALIENS CAN’T VOTE? Or do you prefer staying ignorant? Maybe in NYS you do things backwards but the rest of the country doesn’t do the things you guys do.

And Indiana from what I heard passed laws that require voters to have several matching IDs (similar to Florida) or you can’t vote. I believe a nun made the news when she could not vote because all she had on her was a valid driver’s license.

Ken had a good point- the wall blocks “capitalism” by making supplying demand more difficult. Well, granted the Chinese steel used in building the wall did alter the import quota?

Dual fence with a quarter mile “DEAD” zone with sizemic sensors and land mines. built by illegals supervised by victims of illegals.

I can tell you Señorita Jade, that we are just as upset with the well in the Gulf as you are. If it gets any worse no Americans will want to vacation to our sandy beaches. We do not want that.

GJ_Jehosaphat You said: “Let Arizona foot the bill for building “The Wall”. ”

Is this not Arizona problem, it is national security! Which is FEDERAL! It is an invasion.

That would be like tell the government to stay out of BP’s business and let them take care of the oil leak. Wait, that would be a good thing!

What is your beef with this country I assume you live in? Why not keep those who break laws out? You know a criminal is a criminal. Unless his crime is illegally entering a country? Your logic baffles me, especially on ILLEGAL ALIENS!

Just thought I’d mention that even if illegal immigrants could vote (which I’m still wondering where that idea came from), the hispanic population is not dominated by democrats and would not help the dems out very much. I worked for a non-partisan organization last election trying to increase the percentage of latinos that vote, and I found that abortion and the catholic church lead many hispanics to vote republican no matter what.

You cannot be that naive. Correct- illegal aliens cannot legally vote and no DC resident may legally own a gun. So obviously there has not been a gun related death in DC in 25 years. We passed a law so that ends all discussions and everyone obeys it. Also there are no illegal drugs in this country.

And yes illegal aliens can and do vote, all over the country. They get free education (SCOTUS), free health care and benefits.

The Indiana law initially was upheld and after the election they could not find one single resident who wanted to vote but was prevented by lack of ID. The law has since been overturned. The law required one (1) form of ID including a valid drivers license. She deliberately tried to challenge the law by saying she didn’t drive and didn’t have a drivers license but did have a social security card.

Ok U win! tt volunteers to pay for “The WALL” & personally patrol to keep the “invaders” out. The rest of the country is more concerned about the massive oil spill, war, & the economic mess left by Bush/Cheney reign of incompetency.

Oooh & tt will be out in the fields doing jobs Anglo’s are too lazy to do.
