When my girls were little they once told me they were going to save their allowances to buy me a wig with curlers so I could look like the other ladies in the grocery store.
I never could understand how a woman could sleep comfortably with those things attached to her scalp.But then I could never understand why women would want to subject themselves to the tortures of corsets and girdles, either.
when I was a kid women in the neighborhood would throw those into their messy hair and go to the grocery store instead of fixing their hair up, just to look like “they were doing something with their hair”
