I always hated this concept. I’m mostly French and Blackfoot, and I once asked a teacher if French could ever have THEIR own day…the teacher never answered. I never wore green on St. Patrick’s Day again.
It’s not a day for Irish, its a day that was originally supposed to celebrate the man its named for, St. Patrick, who brought Catholicism to Ireland, converting the pagans who were barbarians there. He actually spent many years as a slave there. So, in those days, converting barbarians to a peaceful religion was a big good thing.
I’ve seen card sales and hoopla about St. Patrick’s Day and St. Joseph’s Day. I’ve also seen some notices about St. David’s Day. That’s all good and well. But personally, I’d like to see a bit more attention to St. Stanislaus Day.
Personally, I’d like to see you people start celebrating “Ushindi’s Day” (you should, of course, already be doing that). You know, one day a year (I don’t really care which) send me presents, buy me drinks and dinners, treat me to Las Vegas vacations, etc. It would be appreciated.Talk it over among yourselves and pick the day most convenient for you. Whichever you decide is fine with me.

Last time I saw this was in a comic book (which shall remain nameless) where in the printing the red was “oversaturated.”
