Parents do tend to take over children’s projects. Teachers can tell which projects were done by the students and which the parents did. Exceptions are the overachiever childen.
One time I had a diorama project for a book report & asked my parents for help. My father asked when it was due: I said “Tomorrow” (it was a Sunday night). He asked how long I’d known about this project, I told him that it had been a couple of weeks. He sat back & said, “You got yourself into this…you get yourself out.” I worked all night but got an A on my “Little House in the Big Woods” diorama. It was so good that it was displayed in the school library. However, I did learn my lesson on procrastinating.
The object of a school project is time management, and if group, then it is team work. They shouldn’t be judged by how they look in the end. No wonder kids get stressed out. Parents shouldn’t ever step in and take over, because of that fact. If kids don’t learn time management at this early age, then they will have trouble all their lives with always being late and feeling overwhelmed…
