Well, from personal experience it does give one vertigo (or more accurately acrophobia). Whether it’s supposed to do that is another thing; it just is and does.
Was talking to a buddy the other day about kids not caring about “old” stuff. I mentioned most kids today have no idea who Will Rogers Sr. was, and he responded the modern kids wouldn’t know or care who Bob Hope was, let alone Will Rogers! A lot of truth to that, I’m afraid. ;-(
If anyone told Baldo it’s supposed to give him dizziness or acrophobia, I can see him coming down with motion sickness.Apparently he would rather view Bridal Veil Falls or Victoria Falls. This reminds me of the Brady Bunch’s trip there; Bobby and Cindy couldn’t care less about the canyon’s depth as Alice read the guidebook out loud. They walked off and got lost. But getting lost and found again resulted in meeting native Indians there, which made the trip more memorable for all nine of them.
My first reaction was “just like the pictures”. I had no scale. Then I realized those black caterpillars were really mule trains. Still, I had to get down in it, see how ten vertical or a hundred trail feet totally changed the bio zone, how what lived in one couldn’t in the next above or below it. See the sunrise from inside the canyon (Ferdie Grofé had it exactly right). Then I was properly amazed.

Is this Grand Canyon? I live in South Africa and have seen pictures but this looks a bit different.

Went with friends and their kids couldn’t be less interested. Now they are grown and now glad they saw it.
