Frazz by Jef Mallett for August 18, 2015
Transcript:
Caulfield: Back in the day, pirates were vicious international criminals. Enough time passes, and they're seen as charming characters. Caulfiel: Do you think Mrs. Olsen will find me charming when school starts back up? Frazz: It takes more than a summer, after less than the toad in her knitting bag.

I’m picturing the toad meeting a gory end via knitting needles.

There have been plenty of pirates off the coast of Somalia for the last 10 years, and although there are fewer successful pirate attacks, that’s still a dangerous area for anybody in any kind of boat. So in fact pirates are still vicious international criminals.

Pirates have always been around and have always been vicious thugs. Its just that time and separation has caused the ancient Cornish pirates to morph into romantic antiheroes. Such is the curious way of human nature.I still don’t get what Frazz was saying about the toad in her knitting bag.

Does someone not knit today?

It is an awkward but acceptable wording. He’s saying that Caulfield put a toad in her knitting bag, and even a lesser offense would take more than a summer’s wait to turn charming in retrospect.

AlbertaNerd, I disagree with Dave; pillage doesn’t make the raping less harsh, but more like piling on more offenses.

As a parent, I’ve found it only takes one semester away at college, and all is forgiven. But then, Mrs. Olsen isn’t his mom, for which I’m sure she is eternally grateful.

Is anyone else having trouble with double posts? I have had this problem both at work, and now here at home. 2 different computers and search engines!

I don’t know — even as a Dodger fan, I have great admiration for Pops Stargel, Roberto Clemente, and Honus Wagner.

Indeed … a nice hybrid here of “Frazz” and “Overboard”. Thanks, Jef.

Bull! Mrs Olsen truly loves Caulfield. She however gets irritated of him. But her true goal is to help him to become a competent student able to get further in the scholar system.
Mrs Olsen has a heart of gold even though she really tries to hide it, due to the fact that she is very old school and believes that discipline is the best management style.
