Although the shuttle takes off with about 2 gees of acceleration, it will be going less than 30 mph by the time the tooth pulls out. That’s really slow compared to many other, much simpler options. If dad added an extra kilometer of slack, the shuttle could get up to a much faster speed for the string to do its magic properly.
Not to mention you’d need a String about 2 Miles Long.Because that’s about as Close as NASA lets anyone Get to the shuttle during a Launch..For some reason, NASA thinks that Flash Fried Spectators equal Bad Publicity.
