The Reason Republicans fear the deal (and Republicans fear a lot) is that oil prices will go down again. This kills the Keystone which will make a bundle for McConnells relatives and the Koch’s will lose on futures.
Regecting this deal means exactly the opposite of what you posted. It takes away ANY chance that US and the international community would have of even beginning to stop or even control Iran from developing a nuclear weapon!!
What you and the other ultra conservatives here and elsewhere so very convieniently overlook, is that there are five othe rmajor nations involved. It is quite probable that each individually, and certain that collectively they can easily tell the US just where we can stick our sanctions. Some of them at least are even more wanting of all that cheap Iranina oil than we are. This is actually the rest of the world doing its capitalistic thing here. Or don’t you support big business (oil) anyway! What kind of a conservative do you call yourself anyway!!
Its a interesting toon. Obama did not get 48.9% of the vote in 2012. That means there is for all intents 1/2 the population of the country who are not in agreement with his policies. Jefferson warned future elected officials they needed to pay attention to what the 49% wanted and not just the 51%. I believe this to be the reasons for the major polarization of our country. The 49% are not our enemy. The last time we disagreed this strongly on issues wasn’t a pretty sight.
Personally I feel trapped in the mob rule Jefferson warned us about.
I may have found the reason that Michael is opposed to Iranians.“Iran is unique in the Middle East, in that it maintains a sizable young, urban and highly educated population that has favorable views towards America. A survey conducted in 2012 by Israeli political strategist Yuval Porat, shows that the Iranian people tend to hold liberal and democratic values. Republicans fear a deal with Iran because they fear any deal with anyone.
Making a deal implies compromise and Republicans tolerate compromise. They cannot even make deals with each other. Or maybe you’d invite Boehner and Rafael Cruz to the same dinner party.
It saddens me for this nation that Ramirez’s snide intent, is merely the accurate truth…
I wouldn’t call Iran’s leaders “friends”, but the people of Iran don’t have nearly, not NEARLY the animas toward the U.S. (despite orchestrated demonstrations) that WE display toward them, constantly, in the media, and commentaries and blogs.
Hmm, we gave them the Shah, supported Saddam Hussein against them in an eight year war, providing him chemical weapons among other things, so there’s no reason at all why Iranians have solid grounds to distrust, or dislike, the U.S. politics and “governments” under several administrations, for decades.
The great Israeli leader Yitzak Rabin said, “you make peace with your enemies, not your friends.” For that simple logic he paid the ultimate price at the hands of a right-wing Israeli extremist.

Unfortunately there is a lot of truth in this. In terms of deaths and trillion dollar wars I fear the conservatives a lot more than Iran.

Say what you want about Obama and this deal, but it is, at least, a long-needed first step toward a better relationship with the Iranian people.

The only deal acceptable to the right is the one British & American oil companies had with the CIA installed Shah.

They’re both America’s enemies. But at least the Iranians admit it.

The oil goes to ports so it can be shipped to China. Why else ship it across the country to the coast.
