Transcript:
Rose: I have a fresh brownie for you, Clem...in exchange for a hug!
Clem: Dodgeball! I believe you forfeited your hug, Auntie Rose.
Rose: Go away, Clem!
Rose, you should have told Clem to go away before you bothered to offer him a brownie. He has no interest in hugs, and is just a selfish, self-centered brat.
Help me out here. Without digging out my ROSE IS ROSE cartoon collections, please tell me the name of Clem’s father. My file-card memory is faulty these days. Was it Doolittle? As I recall, Clem is a smaller version of him. Doolittle and Jimbo used to clash occasionally. Once when Jimbo visited, Doolittle asked if he could have his coat, and then he actually TOOK IT.
that is the lowest of all tricks. i’m going to have the worst dodgeball flashbacks since the time i took my nephew to see chicken little. “dodgeball! let’s play popular kids against the unpopular kids”
Clem never fails to upset me. His parents are totally to blame for his greed, attitude, behaviour and appallingly bad manners. They teach him by example, by themselves being sneaky, greedy and exploitative of everyone else and do it expertly with charm and a smile. They always defend him and invariably dismiss out of hand whatever people tell them about their much-adored son. Rose and every member of her family have been humiliated by Clem so often by now that Rose should have learned instinctively to turn into her alter ego Vicki (I call her ‘Biker Chick’!) whenever he appears.____________________

I thought Clem’s father was Corky. Is Corky just a neighbor? I’m confused.
Killersquirrel66 about 9 years ago
Corky is their neighbour, and Mimi’s dad. No relation to Clem or the Gumbos, as far as I know.
