Just curious, Joe-Allen “Joe” Doty: how does netiquette apply to a screen name that takes so many keystrokes to type out, and in odd positions no less? :)
Why not just go with “Joe-Allen” or “Joe-Allen Doty” and be done with it? The latter is no longer really than the pen name I’ve had on and off the Web since 1982 (Johanan Rakkav).
Those who use JAD do so, I am pretty certain, because it takes a long time to type out the full name and it’s surprisingly hard to do so (if my own hand’s reactions are any indication).
But since I’m an ENFP screwball and not an INTP nitpicker as you seem to be (I don’t mean either as an insult), so long as a modicum of respect is shown to my monikier, people can call me JR, Rakkav, Yochi or anything else except Late For Dinner. :)

In a world of almost 7 billion people, the odds of two cartoonists coming up with the same gag… are actually rather high.

PT Barnum said there’s one born every minute.
Luckily I missed that minute.

Very punny, though they could have I done without the allusion to Alton Brown.

Speaking on behalf of cepalopods everywhere, that word is highly offensive. The preferred term is “suction cups”.

People can rudely alter my screen name. But then again, I’m not a sucker… ;)

Anyone who uses the word “netiquette” in a non-ironic fashion is pretty hard to take seriously anyway…
