Illegal immigrants are welcomed by “law biding” merchants & employers who will pay wway below the minimum wage for a whole lot more hours per week, plus no benefits. The “unlaw biding ones just enslave the illegals, outright.

Close, Sheik. The analogy is closer to different branches of the same umbrella company (say, of Mitsubishi). Some overlap of personnel, as indeed there was originally, but not quite the same set.

Powerboy, the sign will have more effect that the fence. Besides, every time I see that fence, I think of all the other great societies who put up walls. You know, China, East Germany…..

We didn’t need a fence years ago, and it’s only fear mongerers who make us think we need one now. If you want to keep illegals out, take away the jobs - but that means arresting the Americans who knowingly hire illegals.

Why don’t we just mail them our Social Security checks to Mexico. Send our best doctors and teachers, too. That way they can stay at home with their families

Why don’t they make their own countries better. I know … I know … easier said than done. I just get tired of illegal immigrants claiming that the country they left is better than the country they went to and then disrespecting their new country. (sigh)

Chuck, they don’t need benifits from a job. They get everything free from our tax dollars that they do not contribute to. A heck of a lot more than citizens who do pay. There kids should not be citizens just because they snuck across the border to have them. Yes, I am sick of the way real citizens are treated compared to illigels, no matter where they creeped in from!

President Dark Helmet just put up signs in the Arizona desert warning people of the severe danger of visiting these federal lands after just stating how safe the border states are!

“Illegal aliens have always been a problem in the United States. Ask any Indian.” – Robert Orben

Burts5th: Really, sir? Really? You remind me of Lincoln’s remark that those who regarded slavery as beneficial to the slaves were curiously unwilling to try it themselves.

If you think they have it all by the tail, why don’t you give it a shot? Try living for, say, a month under the conditions illegal workers “enjoy” – wage slaves for scutwork no one else is willing to do, trading their human dignity for every miserable crumb of life support they get for “free”, victimized on all sides because they don’t dare to speak out, sleeping with one eye open in case Immigration ever notices them. If you can do that – and I’d honestly be surprised if you could – see afterward if you still want to sound off.

@SCAATY_423, you nailed the real problem. Illegal immigrants are dooming themselves and their children to become the new slave class. The Left doesn’t care about their welfare, they just want the votes. The Right doesn’t care about their welfare, they just want the slave labor.

Thanks SCAATY! You are always there with great comments!

    @Burts5th

It must be comforting to get your information from unreliable sources. “They” (the vast majority anyway) work harder every day than you, and most certainly I, have ever had to.

Your use of “They” as a throw-away word is beneath contempt. These are real people with real needs who do real work.

Speaking of laziness (implied) , your inattention to the English Language is pitiful. Either that or you are too cheap with your time to proofread what you write.

“There kids should not be citizens just because they snuck across the border to have them.” doesn’t mean anything. It is NOT an English sentence. Did you get a grade school education? Do you even know why the sentence is meaningless?

More than you will ever care to know, you benefit from “their” cheap labor every day of your life.

You and and those who “think” as you do, sicken me.

OLDDOG82: Well, you probably want to keep out the obvious terrorists and criminals. But if they’re just coming here looking to get a job that no one else wants – that’s the key phrase – it would make better economic sense just to let them in, pay them fairly (including collecting Social Security and other taxes from their paychecks), treat them decently, and welcome them as the key part of our economy that they are, for as long as they feel like staying. (More illegal immigrants that you might think would like nothing better than to go home; it’s no fun to be a stranger in a strange land.)

If you could wave a magic wand and make all of the illegal immigrants disappear, make no mistake: our economy would clutch its chest and go into a swoon. (Yes, a bigger one than it’s already in.) Wages for the jobs they have now would skyrocket in order to draw in replacements from our native-born fellow citizens –even the ones who are out of work – and prices for a broad range of goods and services would spike. (Joe-Allen’s example is very interesting, but almost certainly not typical.)

I wish Joe was wrong. Scaaty. Hiring for cash saves on payroll accounting, on insurance, on comp, on tax withholding. If the IRS would let most companies use contract labor, it would save businesses a bundle and undercut insurance companies power over them. Problem is it greatly reduces taxes paid by the co. and the IRS will have none of that. An independent contractor can pay his taxes quarterly and keep the cash in his account for 3 months instead of the government having it draw interest in their account.

The IRS seems to ignore prosecution on those who do hire illegals when there are often paper trails a mile wide. That’s been done under BOTH parties so there is something more than a right or left wing “plot” going on. It’s more like Lou Dobbs’ “War on the Middle Class.”

And, at 10% unemployment and no other jobs out there and the extended benefits gone thanks to ineffective Dem support and republican idiocy, please trust me, the economy would NOT swoon for lack of workers. The only thing that might hurt would be the big “industrial” farms who hiring practices started this all out to begin with. And, if they collapsed, we might actually see the return of the family farmer and lower food prices simply because no one would be colluding to gouge prices. I’m glad I finally found work (but then I’ve been blessed through the whole thing) and hope most of the unemployed do, but it won’t be easy for anyone in MI after this month.
