Yes, you got to ban the words they you don´t like – doesn´t matter what they feel.

Or change their meaning, like religious rights meaning only your rights and noone else.

Again, there is no public school where anything like this is happening. Therefore, this isn’t exaggeration showing the idiocy of the mythological “PC” monster. Someone’s example yesterday of the word “retarded” which is no longer used as over-the-top PC is just plain stupid. Why? Because that word was changed first by the APA as being inaccurate. Add to that the fact that too many people use it as an insult or way to abuse others, meant there was legitimate use for it any more. Language changes, get over it.

    “Language changes, get over it.”

But ENGINEERING language is a futile task, and usually exacerbates the perceived problem. Language changes are done by usage and general consensus. These sorts of artificial constructs are doomed from the git-go.

One or two days is commentary but if you want to do an editorial, list it that way. I’ve had more than enough of your lack of respect for certain groups of people who differ from your view of the world. I’m gone.

Free speech seems to only apply to those who agree with it. I believe this is the point of today’s strip.

Why do I get the feeling of George Orwell on these strips lately?

This kind of censorship is real. There, I said it. However, when you filter out the places that repealed their changes almost overnight, as well as all the ones where gender-neutral nouns were “added” to the vocabulary – not mandated – a situation like Zack’s strains the credibility of even a fictional comic world. I agree with ksingernc. A few days of exaggeration is totally normal. But extending this into a multi-week arc that beats readers over the head with the same manufactured outrage is as bad as the imaginary PC thugs writing Zack’s school policy.

I came to love this comic years ago because it made me laugh and had a lot of heartwarming plots. In spite of not being a dog lover, I’ve grown extremely fond of Cagney from the time he joined the family. Each member of the mismatched household was endearing in their own way and kept me coming back. Now, more often than not, I just see rambling, uninformed pedantry. I think I’m done.
