It doesn’t matter what the moose refers to today as or how many calenders a person hangs on a wall.
What’s important about today is that the artist has the freedom to write/draw and have published his or her opinions; we can put what we want in our homes and even post these comments. These are but three of the many, many rights we as Americans have.
So enjoy today (whatever you want to call it) and don’t sweat the petty stuff!
JOE For once I agree with you, but a much greater document written by a lot of the same men had something in it’s first article. I’ve told you before, read the first article. It mentions 3 freedoms which you believe in for yourself only.
Joe, ignore the idiot (who did name himself appropriately, at least). I like calendars, too – pretty ones, with beautiful pictures. And I’m thankful for Independence Day, too.
Hi Joe. Happy 4th of July to you and all American friends from Australia. I have 3 calendars on the walls in my home. They are from a conservation group, a lost dogs home and the local traders. All show different aspects of things that interest me, especially as I change them from month to month. Must follow your idea and get more next year,
I wonder who used the ‘Francis’ avatar as a coward’s way of hiding their usual name on Gocomics. Their current name sums up how they must really feel about themselves. Flagged.
It’s important to have several calendars, because sometimes you have to determine the date by consensus. And it’s good to have an odd number, otherwise they’re always bugging you to break the tie.
Flagging someone on the Fourth of July for exercising their freedom of expression does seem a tad ironic though.
Joe-Allen here at our home we have more then one callendar ourselves. Also do you realize on some callendars does not mention Pearl Harbor day in December 7th. That day should never be forgotten.
I’m thrilled GA reconzined 4th of July as Independence Day for the people who fought and died for our freedom as we remember them.
Cool fireworks kab. I, also have many calendars. It is my right as a citizen of the United States of America, the right to bear and display calendars, by golly!! happy 4th of July to all and a special thanks to all you veterans!
Joe Allen Doty—I am moved to your defense. I don’t always agree with you and sometimes your postings annoy me. However, that is no reason for pure meanness. God Bless you on this Independence Day. As a Marine Vietnam Vet I thank all who are praying for and supporting our troops.
@donkey droppings–you have named yourself well. FLAGGED
My grandfather was an indian scout for the 7th when the US Army went looking for Pancho Villa after he invaded New Mexico. My father was a tail gunner in the 2nd world war dropping bombs on Germany. two of my uncles were code talkers, two were in the Navy on supply islands in the South Pacific. One of my brothers served in Viet Nam, and two were Marines. They served this, their country so we could enjoy our lives today. I say all this to remind people that freedom isn’t free, we must always stand watch. So, to all of you who have served, thank you, and God bless each and every one of you.
I have no problem with either the official title “Independence Day” or the unofficial descriptive term “The Fourth of July.” To me, they both mean the same thing. IMO, too much rancor has entered this discussion of terminology, on both sides. Joe, it is one thing to say that you prefer the use of the official title, but to repeatedly make that point over several days, while implying that those who choose to use the other term are wrong to do so, is overkill. As for those ridiculing and insulting Joe, you also need to get your own lives.

Great point Joe…pay no attention to the rebuttal of your post by that Jackass. Hang as many calendars in your apt. as you want.

The great thing about America is that even certified fools can express their opinions.

If you say “The Fourth” everyone knows what you’re talking about. Of course, we should always remember why we celebrate it and teach the children.
