Never saw the “Smokey Stover” comic in the funnies, but my grandmother gave me a “Big Little Book” that she still had that was about Smokey Stover. I read it several times until it wore out. I now wonder how much it would be worth if I still had it, and it was in good condition.
Joel and I read today’s comic…. shook our heads, then simultaneously peered with a jaundiced eye into the bowls of our pipes… fearing that instead of brown, burley leaf… there was a greener leaf widely enjoyed in Colorado and Washington by mistake. We are not trusting our own eyes at the moment.

Smokey Stover! The only thing I remember Smokey Stover was as a segment on “Archie’s TV Funnies” back in the 1970’s.
