Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for November 15, 2015
Transcript:
Phoebe: Hey, Marigold. Marigold: Hello. Phoebe: Is something wrong? Marigold: Terribly. I have... A SONG IN MY HEART. Phoebe: That's bad? Marigold: It is stuck there and it plays on a loop. Phoebe: I call that having a song stuck in my HEAD. Marigold: How very human. Music lives in he heart, not the head. It is a DEEP and MAGICAL FORCE. Nananananananana BAT-MAAAAAN. Phoebe: Great, now I'M gonna have that stuck in MY heart.

Neal Hefti is definitely a man you place in your deepest soul and being. Also “Batman” kills as a punchline.

Holy theme song!

Now you got me thinking ahead: next Hallowe’en, Phoebe should go as Batgirl and Marigold can be her Batcy—wait… (looks it up) …Batgirl-Cycle? …Okay.
(I’d suggest Star Butterfly and her Warnicorn, but Marigold probably wouldn’t like giving herself rainbow teeth. Maybe she could wear a full-body black shroud and go as Princess Flying Pony Head?)

There is no song stuck in the head that can’t be cured by listening to Slayer with the volume on 11

Why is it that I never have BAD songs stuck in my head?
WaitingMan about 9 years ago
Not the typical earworm song, but “Terrapin Station” by The Grateful Dead has been rumbling through my head and heart for the last couple of days. “Crickets and cicadas sing…”

I was 12 years old when the Adam West “Batman” TV show first came on the air. I thought it was terrific. Surprised anyone as young as Phoebe (or her parents) would even know about it.

Now THAT was funny, Dana! As Dick Van Dyke ( and probably others before him) said, humor is the art of the unexpected. Batman and a Unicorn: never the twain…

I guess that means for Marigold, it isn’t an earworm, it’s a heartworm. No wonder she’s upset!

The worst part of that particular song is that it repeats in my head in the original “voices”.

Start playing Shari Lewis’ version of “The Song That Doesn’t End…”

I always have a song stuck in my heart. But usually it’s the 60s Spider-Man theme, not the 60s Batman theme. XD

Looks like Phoebe’s dad exposed Marigold to the classic TV show. :)
