Of course someone has to quote the bible Old Testament as scientific proof. Read Genesis 7:11. The windows of heaven and the fountains of the deep refer to Babylonian cosmology. Genesis 7:20 tells you how deep the flood was. 15 cubits to cover all the mountains. See they had really small mountains in those days.Isaiah 11:12 ….from the four corners of the earth.Revelation 7:1…..four angels standing on the four corners of the earth. There is a difference between a circle and a sphere. The ancient Hebrews knew of spheres. They got their cosmology, as well as their creation and flood myths from the Babylonians. So again we enter into the argument is the bible consistent? Is the earth a circle or a square? Since St.John the Devine in his book of Revelations declares it a square, the NT trumps the OT everytime. It’s square. My favorite bible verse is Luke 14:26. In case you try to explain it away, “hate” in that verse also is “hate” in Greek, the original language of the NT.
“Christopher Columbus was a seaman second classWhen I told him that the Indies could be foundBy sailing to the West instead of sailing to the East.I advised him that I thought the world was round.(I really thought so.)And then I sent him down to ask good Queen IsabellaTo pawn her jewels for all their worth. The next day he set sail, and as everyone knows,He fell off the edge of the Earth.”. – Allan Sherman, Good Advice

But doesn’t the flat Earth have a circular edge? So if you’re careful, you could sail around it.

Of course the Earth is flat. To think other wise is just ridiculous. If the Earth was a sphere it would just roll of the back of the turtles.

For Wiley Miller’s humorous (but all too real life), take on “Flat Earth”, see last week’s arc of Non Sequitur (02-15-16 thru 02-20-16):

The circumfence keeps things from falling over the edge.
