why do people rake leaves? is it really necessary?

Now that is great. Childhood may never end somewhere. Just all from that one tree? Still, leaves one in a good mood.

I tried that a number of years ago. Trust me, the leaves just don’t absorb as much impact when your an adult.

i still find it very difficult to walk past a leaf – or seed pod – on the sidewalk and not step on it; the sound is delightful. when i am no longer able to walk i’ll still roll my wheelchair over them. i may get old(er) but stomping on leaves never will.

Depends on the number of leaves, the kind of leaves, the size of the leaves — and where they fall. The aforementioned compost idea is the best by far.
