    aicarrie1Not the whole time, but they did have le pneumatique, which was a faster version of the mail: write out your message, walk a block or two and send it to the nearest office by pneumatic tube. They would hand deliver it. You could get four or five exchanges a day that way, instead of just two mail deliveries. Now extinct, of course. Electronics.

    He had no Monet to buy Degas to make the Van Gogh.
