    And sometimes leather ear-guards. I’m never sure whether that’s to keep them from getting bent against the ground during a scrum, or in case one of the other players tries to chew them off.

    My son went from baseball, to track, to football, to lacrosse to rugby. We figured his next step was jousting. He’s the nicest person you’d ever meet, but when he steps onto the playing field, he turns into a maniac who throws his body into the game. By the time he was 18, he had more stiches than a baseball.
