    @ebsan, from Wikipedia: The 1968 Democratic National Convention had a significant amount of protest activity. In 1967, counterculture protest groups had been promising to come to Chicago and disrupt the convention, and the city promised to maintain law and order. For eight days, protesters and the Chicago Police Department fought in the streets of Chicago while the US Democratic Party met at the convention in the International Amphitheater.

    The 1968 Democratic National Convention gave us: Police Riots. The Most tear gas & Mace ever used in an American City, Convention Security Guards assaulting Network News anchors for attempting to talk to a Delegate and a nation so Disgusted with what they saw that Richard M Nixon became President..It was the Worst Meltdown of a Political Party ever to happen in US History..When signing off from their final broadcast, one of the Network News anchors announced that He could Not Wait to get out of the Hell that was Chicago..
