You just gotta love IKEA, doncha? (If this comic were written in Swahili, what language would the assembly instructions be in? Xhosa with the click consonants?)

I used to work at a service station. Every once in awhile, some dad would come in and pop a bicycle tire on Christmas Eve. Those compressors are made to fill car tires, so they put out a lot of air quickly. You have to baby them. Some things I could fix, but…

Some instructions translated from Chinese to English can be very entertaining

Am I crazy because I love Christmas presents that are “some assembly required”? Growing up, my favorites were LEGOs…actually, that hasn’t really changed :-D

Nobody noticed the bolt has a left hand thread.

Those instructions are so confusing that they even have this screw calling itself a bolt.

Odd, I’ve assembled several cabinets and an entertainment centre and I’ve never had any problems…

I almost had a screw disappear when me & my dad were setting up my new TV.

Worse than the instructions in Swahili are the instructions you can tell were machine-translated from Swahili to English.

“Assembly be done with great peace of mind.”

That is a screw, not a bolt.

It appears the threads are left hand threads, not right hand normal threads.

Nope, I dont think IKEA has much of its supply (or do you say storage?) in Stockholm. Its in other small towns in Sweden. And do you know what the products name really means?I do, because Im from Sweden :) But usually IKEA is good at both sending everything and have a understandable instruction.

I use to assemble the display furniture at the depatment store I worked at. I learned to read the instructions through ahead of time and always made sure I had all the right hardware for the piece I was building (it was mostly the pressed board furniture). The company usually put extra hardware in the package just in case there was a miscount so we had a bin with all the extra parts from assembly, and if we actually ended up short (or lost the parts while assembling) we could go to the proper bins to get the needed part.

That’s definitely a screw not a bolt
