Agent: You kids are gonna love this place. It's very cozy, and right near the subway. Mike: In the subway is more like it. Agent: Believe me, once you settle in, you'll hardly notice... Hey! Excuse me for a moment, will ya, folks? I thought I threw you people out! Voice: Please, senor, the baby is sick... JJ: Michael, let's go home.

Do you refer to the real author or the unreal realtor?

In 1987, on a class trip to NYC, we were told a rat infested hole in Manhattan would runabout $600 a month. What it would be today, I can only guess.

way back in the 70s, when we still had the draft, I worked with a really smart guy from Manhattan. He never drove, said he rode his bike or took the subway. His intro to the US was quite the shock. He figured that there was NYC, then the rest of the country. Anyway, my father was in the AFL-CIO, ISU then was costing him about $700 a month. A few years later(about 1979 or very early 80s) his building went condo and he purchased his about 1000sf apt for a little over $100,000. Such a deal?Only speak to him very intermittently like maybe a couple of times every decade. He is still single and still happy with his 1BR right in Manhattan, which to him is the center of the world, He works on Wall Street, something to do with IT, which he was right on the very beginning of the IT revolution.Last I talked to him he said he was offered $450K for his apt. IMPO, prices in NYC are totally insane. But, hey, if they are willing to pay. Also have a friend from PI who worked for about 10 years in NYC, then decided to move to Michigan. He told all of us just how much more stuff cost in NYC. He said that he rented an apt in the outer edges of Queens paid over $2K per month and it took him over an hour to get to work. In MI, he lived about 5 miles from work and it took him less than 15 min driving to get to work

Maybe they can share the space and rent and sick child. (Is this a Trunp sponsoring metaphor about the dangers of illegal immigration?)
