My attitude is that we are your guest, Louie.. And we should behave I guests. I would walk right over there and bark them up the nearest mast! Here comes that dog. Oh, he's not gonna do anything we're guests. Louie
@Paul - Saying the poor art is intentional doesn’t make it good. As for “the history of the strip”, I haven’t found anything that creates the aha! moment you’re looking for, but I have read the strip since 1996, really just out of a combination of habit and nostalgia. It was one of the few cartoons to run in an English-language newspaper in Tokyo in ’96’97, and after that I found it online. Insight and perceptiveness? Please.
Before you bag the drawing, read about the history of the strip. if you do, you will see that as strange as it seems, bad drawings are actually an integral part of the strip.Chip’s insight and perceptiveness to deeper issues and his ability to express that in 3 or 4 panels is far more important than the quality of his drawings.
Sticks and stones will break his bones but words will never hurt Chip. This is a comic, escape from the mean world. Bet these people didn’t like Frodo either. Love this strip always.
This is a great strip! My favorites are the rats. Or I guess they are just big hearty mice.I have had pet rats for years and they are very smart, loving and personable, And they don’t smell at all, as long as their cage is kept up properly. Some can be litter box trained. I have seen videos of them playing basketball. (rat rules of basketball), of course.

I like this strip, so I hate to bag on it, but those are the worst drawn reindeer I’ve seen that weren’t done in crayon and stuck to a fridge.

Apparently dashes are interpreted as strikethrough commands here.

The drawing style is an element in the strip.

If the reindeer weren’t part Labrador retriever why would they be stealing Louie’s food?

Go on, Louie. Show ‘em who’s boss.
As for the drawings of the reindeer … it’s the effort/thought that counts, right?
Good Evening, Crew.
