Wolf - 0 Squirrel - 1

For now…

There’s a campground in Idylwild, CA that has a “squirrel crossing” sign. The graphic on the sign is very similar to the trail of Wolf’s leash. I tried to upload an image for my avatar, but the file’s too big.

I think the squirrels enjoy the chase, kind of like a high risk adrenaline sport. A squirrel at our house comes and sits on the back porch, turns his back to the glass door, and waves his tail. Our cat gets mad. When I open the door, the cat flashes out like a streak of black lightning. The squirrel looks over his shoulder, waits until the cat get within 4 feet, then dashes across the lawn for the tree, with the cat inches from his tail. The squirrel goes straight up the tree without slowing, and the cat quickly drops behind on the vertical ascent, until finally giving up. The squirrel sits on the branch makes squirrel laughing sounds and the cat makes angry “chuka chuka sounds” and stalks back to the porch. The next day, the squirrel does it again.
