Because single pneumonia just isn’t good enough….

Once upon a time, there used to be a popular comic strip called “Dilbert” that had a character named “Topper”, who would always one-up everyone. He would say, “Double pneumonia? That’s nothing! One time I had triple pneumonia!”

Luckily, it is only 24 hours for the death benefit…!

Tomorrow is probably Tony’s day to bring in doughnuts.

That’s why Burl’s a manager. He always reports Friday for his Monday sick day.

The exception to the 48 hour rule is when it’s Burl getting sick.

I once tried to call in sick the evening before. My female boss said, “How do you know you’ll be sick in the morning?”. So I called her about 6 am the next morning.

My old employer tried to implement a policy by which, if you called in sick, you needed a doctor’s note to return to work. So now instead of one day, people missed two or three because they had to go to the doctor, most of the time unnecessarily.

I remember Topper and I remember when Dilbert “used to be” popular. I stopped reading it once Scott Adams went over to the dark side.

Thing is, there are bosses / companies that have just such STOOPID policies.
