Is that ‘05’ I see on the bottom of the last panel? (That explains the limited coloring.)I do like Uncle Reginald. I hope he appears more than once every 10 years.

I wasn’t able to get this ’toon in the newspapers where I was living in 2005, so this is all new to me. Like it a lot. Uncle Reg is more fun that a barrel of Captain Eddys….

Two more days left…no, I don’t mean 2015 (it’s already gone as this comment is being posted), I mean two more days until this storyline about a spirit advocating alcohol reaches closure!

He is vaguely reminiscent of Jackie Gleason’s Reginald Van Gleason III ( only with a Down East accent ) !

At least he isn’t drinking Zombies.

As long as the single malt is not a “peat forward” malt. On the other hand a “farm forward” red……. YUM!!!!

Whatever environment Kate and Danae live in, to tolerate such a boozing spirit is strange. Their Reg is also very dated; given his treatment of our young ladies. Then there is the medical problem of one in his state able to assimilate alcohol yet apparently nothing else with. A mystery but entertaining.

Now we know who Danae takes after.

He has the wrong glass for scotch anyway.

Why don’t stay with that Endtown group where you belong?!

That view of Reginald in the last panel makes me think of Dr. Zoidberg in Futurama.

If that’s the worst hell one could end up in, that is one without any Scotch, one hasn’t done too bad. ;)

On the other hand (or paw), I like Wiley’s artwork with this strip unlike the lackluster hack jobs in other comics like Daddy’s Home and The Wizard of ID (of which I disposed from my line-up this month). Oh, there are other comics that glorify alcoholism as well (Shoe, Buni, EndTown, Doonesbury, and Andy Capp to name a few). Their artwork is brilliant compared to kindergarten, refrigerator-type art of Tony Rubino and Mason Mastroianni! Do keep up the good work in 2016, Wiley Miler. Still, I not stop with the issue of alcoholism!

Now we know where Danae gets her flair for the dramatic!

I wish ghosts had such autonomy and intelligence. I’d like to ask them a few questions..Ask the Japanese about that.They have a 3 Day Holiday called O-Bon where they pretty much Beg the Ghosts of their Ancesters to Please, Don’t try to help or give advice..They Celebrate, Dance and Sing to show the Ancestor Ghosts that the Family is Happy and Prosperous to that the ghosts don’t need to stick around and “Fix” the Family.

Reginald things Maine is Hell?He must be one of those Nordic people who picture Hell as a Frozen Wasteland….He’s got a point. After all, the climate is so cold most of the year that you cant’ make Whiskey unless you keep a Fire under the Mash while it ferments.Which is why Scotch has all those darn Ashes in it.
