-Corky, you can have a healthy discussion and conclude that you don’t have much in common…

Besides, whatever side you’re on, you’re an idiotic poopy-head!

I try to avoid politics at gatherings or with friends. I start screaming and it is undignified. Ain’t changing anyone’s mind anyhoo.

I took “Speech & Debate” in high school. One time I was partnered with a guy who would purposely oppose anything I said. Not wanting to argue, I told him that I would debate any topic except for politics or religion. He said that he WANTED to debate either politics or religion. That ended up being our debate topic: whether or not to debate politics or religion! We got an A.

even a little bit makes a difference. i once took a non credit class meant to help with fear of public speaking-part of some grad student’s thesis. and she didn’t even have the fear herself and was less than empathetic about it. 1/2 dozen sessions with my fellow scaredy cats did make some difference even so

It’s far easier for TV to tell us what we’re supposed to think when we don’t discuss it among ourselves.

Hubby loved to give speeches. Gave his first at the age of 7 in Cub scouts. Was in a Debate club and then joined Toastmasters, and I have many trophies to admire and remember him with. Put the City Council in its place many a time and was well-respected by them.

Look like chocolate chip. I would recommend snickerdoodles for political discussions.
