Well, Buck, if you’re going to exact COMPLETE historical accuracy, you’ll also have to house Satchel’s model in a museum after you raise it up from whatever watery grave you send it to.

    Wow! They’d n e v e r have allowed that word in Swedish! I can “lova” you that! =)

Fun fact: The reason the Vasa sank that quickyl was because it was a slim ship built for speed, but still had lots of cannons placed on top, which made it topple over.

Why’d they build it that way? Because that’s what the king ordered. If the king had a design for a ship, you assured him it was an excellent design. If you wanted to keep your job and your life.

The Vasa wasn’t ruined — it just sank. It was preserved in the mud for 300 years, then raised in the 1960s. A little worse for wear, but not ruined. Not in the way Bucky ruins things.

Behold the Visa. It has caused a lot more trouble than any ship.

It sailed 1300 meters, foundered, and sank. And if you go to Sweden, you can see the restored wreck.

Having worked in Sweden for a number of years, I was surprised that I did not recognize the word right away. But the 3rd letter is a “V”, not a “Y”. And the meaning is far worse – it it the Swedish equivalent of the “F” bomb. (I used it once where I shouldn’t have, and resulted in a screak from a women.)

The Vasa Series, yay! One of my favorites. I think this is about the point I started reading Fuzzy, now I can put a date on it.

And so I have learned a word or two of Swedish here today. This is why I subscribe to GC; the educational enrichment.

Hey, at least Bucky had the courtesy to inform you of his intentions before you built the model, Satchel. Now you won’t have to waste your time …

@TioMaxx Actually, the word “javlar” doesn’t exist in swedish. The word is “jävlar” and it is the equivallent of motherf… But literally it means “devils”. We’re not big on sexual swearwords in swedish. When people use those kinds of words we tend to shake our heads at them for trying – and failing – to be rude.
