dad: so, in omaha, you can stop at boys town, where you cannot only see the oscar spencer tracy won for his portrayal of father flanagan...but also gaze upon the world's largest ball of stamps! dad: down the road is the town of hastings...birthplace of kool-aid!! now here is the landmark called chimney rock- when spotted by pioneers on the oregon trail, they called it 'seeing the elephant.' as it signaled the end of the journey through the flat great plains with the mountain west ahead! if you want to see a real elephant, head north to fort robinson state park! ...on display are the skulls of two mamoths, their tusks forever locked in battle! so tonight we'll say goodbye to nebraska...tomorrow, south dakota!

Also in Nebraska, you can see the Mormon pioneer cemetery in the Winter Quarters/North Omaha area. Complete with a visitors’ center.

Sorry not fair New Jersey has lots of stuff to see. Weehawkin’s were the duel between Hamilton and Burr took place. Delaware water gap very pretty in fall. The Jersey shore boardwalks. I’m from Jersey….

Hastings – the birthplace of Kool-aid. I might have to visit there. What a great idea to read something like that to your kid instead of weird fairy tales.

In South Dakota you can see “the largest prairie dog in the world”. Not to be confused with “the world’s largest prairie dog”, which is in Kansas.

Hopefully road atlases never die out. Doing this isn’t as easy wIth your GPS. Which can be a godsend too.

Nebraska also has the Strategic Air Command Museum between Omaha and Lincoln, and the Omaha Zoo is a world class zoo.
