I think it is a great idea to go to the trouble of finding that certain book in the library, for a person who isn’t in the habit of going to one, if the book is only going to be read once, and not used in the future. Unfortunately, that Christmas, my husband didn’t appreciate my efforts, even though I stuck a $20 bill in the book. (The new book was around $35 which I thought was outrageous!) He still thinks it wasn’t a great gift, but I think it was worse that he bought me a $100 software (that I didn’t want) and loaded it onto HIS computer, which meant it couldn’t be returned.

He’s probably one of those who buys for others what he really wants himself. My husband once bought me the leather bomber jacket that he’d always wanted. I made him return it and get one for himself. He’s cured — he only gives me money now and I buy what I want. :)
