Anyone remember seeing a “B.C.” with captions rather than dialogue before?

Well, the problem with that is, prehistory by definition didn’t have text messages of any kind. Cave drawings don’t count. Stone or clay tablets don’t count either (they belong to history, not prehistory).

That said, given this comic’s level of technology one of Peter’s floating tablets would’ve done just fine.

Long wind warning…

While I was growing up I heard many times like most of you did too I’m sure. “Get a good education so you can get a good job.”

Well I’m retired now and I had a good job: Patrol Supervisor with the New Mexico Highway Department.

What I wish was someone would’ve told me when I was growing up goes more like this… Get a good education because someday you’ll have to help your children with their homework. I’d rather have been a ditch digger having read more of those kind of text messages so I never would have had to see the look in my daughters faces when they knew more about what they needed help with and I wasn’t able to help them!

Post Script: Come to think of it I did do some ditch digging… But it was with a piece of heavy equipment not a shovel

Most written communications in this strip have been on stone tablets, but Wiley’s Dictionary has always been an actual book, no?

If this were one of Johnny’s strips, I would have expected the book to be a Bible, giving added dimension to the phrase “Text Message.”

Vigilante de noche - I had a decent job that I quit when I became a mom, although I have only about a year of college. But when we decided to homeschool, especially after they reached the high school years, I did wish I’d taken the more advanced math & science classes that weren’t required. I’ve been learning alongside them.

What’s about “IM (Instant Messenger)?” :-/
