…and though they got locked up in the looney bin later, they had a great time bonding together.

I finally decided to follow this strip, because so many nut-jobs on other strips I read seem to congregate here. I can see that it will take some time to lern the neighborhood. I did post a link late yesterday.

    Aw, Bobarion…. that’s very kind.

And welcome, Dennis….yes, Ballard Street is a great neighborhood.A little rundown for those who haven’t met all the players…Let’s start at the Tiki Bar… c’mon, I’ll buy you guys a drink….Great food and beverages, alcoholic and not, 24/7….

I supervise the night shift… but the place is owned by our elected Sheriff of Ballard County, my pal MonkeyBlues (or as he often spells it, MunkyBluz…..) who also fronts a band… and brings in fresh yak for the Tiki smoker from far Turdmunkestan

This is Fenton, the night bartender, 5 nights a week…. best on the planet….

Tuesdays and Thursdays he’s off, and we have a bunch of little monkeys, with help on Thursdays from a local fireman. a good friend of Bev’s…You know Bev…. she posts a lot of pictures to keep us entertained…but she’s also the town seer and fortune teller. Be careful.

    What’ll you have?

I suggest the house specialty… a banana daiquiri…We do a lot of banana stuff, what with, you know…a monkey for an owner.

If you decide to move here, the best real estate agents are StelBel and her partner, Mel O’Dell…Stel also runs Schaabs… Stelbel’s Canine Hotel and Antique Browser Store…and owns The Wonderful World of Inflatables …. with its Costume Annex…and she publishes a local magazine.I know she’ll point out something I left out.I myself run a busy hair salon, and a bakery and pie shop, and a tomato factory, all while working at the Tiki.

My good friend x_Tech owns a factory, X Tech Industries, which produces many of the rather magical effects here on Ballard Street….including the edible color-changing glitter I use on hair and birthday cakes. The Linguist is a sea captain (and shhh…. somewhat of a pirate) now based in Ecuador….The Last Rose of Summer also entertains us with pictures and toon history….There are so many others…I could be here all night!

As you can see, we all wear a lot of hats…that’s what makes hat-snatching so successful for Lenny and Lyle… for the moment…

You’ll notice several of the residents like to wear animal costumes. Especially Carter. Best try not to notice Carter.

Dennis! I’m glad you wandered over here from the wonderful world of cats, We are the wonderful world of parties! Yes, we have birthday parties every month or so.Stel conjours (how else could she do what she does) the most beautiful invitations you’ve ever seen, Bev does the catering, her kitchen is huge, when you see her array of goodies you will be amazed. She can cook anything and I mean anything!Susan bakes cakes to literally die for (ok that “thing” with the bugs was unintentional). Her cakes are out of this planet!I, (ahem) do the table settings and decor and shop (my favorite thing) for the presents. The rest of the time we hang out at the Tiki and do what everyone who lives in a small town does: gossip. You see, the people who live here (not us of course), are…well….a little…………….odd.

I am so glad to see that Lenny & Lyle are equal opportunity hat-snatchers; caps, ladies and men’s hats. Discrimination is frowned upon. All are equally (un)welcome on Ballard Street.

    Welcome, Zack!

    And GaijinRabbit….. don’t be a sad bunny…. I didn’t “forget” you..not in the least!

I said in my post I could be here all night attempting to list everybody on the street. So I only mentioned some of the people who have taken on businesses or otherwise defined roles in the community….There are many I didn’t mention…and they certainly brighten the community…if I start to list them, I’ll leave someone out and be in trouble…but Happy, Shikamoo, Dry, Veteran, Dogsniff, LadyKat, PerkyCat, RedKaycei, Bri-no-mite, Number Six…. just to name a FEW of them…. have been here for years… and are all necessary! As is everybody who posted above…and mr_sherman, you needn’t be so modest! Without you and Liverlips and Coyoty and Superfrog…you see the problem…I’m wearing out my keyboard…and EVERYBODY up there….this would be a dull place!( PLEASE… I have the flu, and my brain is fuzzy. If I forgot you, I didn’t mean to!)But the backbone is all the so-called “ordinary citizens” …. though around here, almost no one is ordinary! Not even the toon folks. And no one is gaijin! No haoles, foreigners, outsiders…. everybody is welcome.Even the animals can work or be pets, as they choose….(though frankly, there are a few who pretty much have to work, cos they’re more or less impossible pets.)One more thing…. comments continue later here than on most strips…and while the street is closed on Sundays (no new comic) the forum usually goes on.Drop by any time!

Happy. .. bunny’s hat is a mite big.

Dogsniff is fine. One visible comment means no ban. Click on his avatar and you’d see that he has plenty showing.
