I’m guessing that the ostriches are finished with their first dance and Ben Ali and his group of alligators will be there shortly. I really love the hippo and alligator part of “Fantasia”.
Parents should watch children’s shows, and discuss them with their children. It is the only way to encourage which values are being absorbed and to counter those you don’t condone..I had a friend who refused to allow her son to watch Xmen cartoons. “too violent” she said. I countered – the underlying value in the Xmen is about inspiring tolerance for those who are different from oneself. If my friend had taken the time to watch the show with her son, she could have helped him to see that.Instead, her son sneaked over to someone else’s home to watch the show he was forbidden to see by his mother. Without any parental intervention, he saw what she expected him to see: random violence.

I think the point here is that Mimi wants to be dancing. Let the folks sit and watch, she has twirling to do!

Walt Kelly was an animator on the original Fantasia (see the credits at the end). You can see Albert’s origins in the Dance of the Hours segment.
