A couple of weeks ago I heard my younger daughter nagging her big sister. When I went to find out what was going on, I found out that the younger one wanted the older one’s help with her homework, but the older one said no, because she was doing her OWN homework. I said to my younger one, “You know, there ARE two adults in the house who you could ask to help!”
Roger, English apparently wasn’t your strong subject. It’s “it was I who got you through kindergarten.” “Me” couldn’t do anything because “me” is an object, not a subject.
@QuiteDragon, that’s not right. “I” is the predicate nominative of the main clause. “It was I”. The subordinate clause is "who got you through kindergarten. “Who”, “which”, and “that” are relative pronouns that serve as subjects of dependent clauses while also connecting the dependent clause to the main clause.
I told my goddaughter once dhe had hit 5th grade I was no longer helping her wth the math portion of her homework…having had failed math thru junior hi n hi school
