Trump: We need to put a businessman in The White House. Man: At your Taj Mahal, you ran up huge debt, managed it horribly, it went into default and then bankruptcy. Trump: What does any of that have to do with governing?
Trump reminds me of those little rubber dolls, that when you squeeze them their mouths, eyes, ears (and other things) pop outward. But have no fear! Sarah’s here!.Computer? End Program!
Speaking as a businessman who assesses executives, while there are traits in common, it is foolish to think that simply being a CEO equates to being President of the US. They are very, very different. Romney learned that just being governor of Massachusetts was very different from being a CEO — for one thing, you can’t issue orders and commands except within narrowly defined limits; you are the administrator of the laws, not their creator.
pmaerzHow do you define “successful”? Providing quality goods and services at a fair price and wages; or amassing vast money by stealing it from all concerned?
Trump will be a big do as I say cry baby like Ventura. Wait until the first time the Congress or Senate blocks him and sits on their hands like the last 8 years. Then he’ll howl so loud his hair will straighten out. He’s a rapist that wants to point out other’s indiscretions, he’s a failed businessman, he’s a Reality TV Clown. And this is the best the right can come up with?
I knew someone would spout that claim. Try again, this time with some facts.As of December 20 (see link below), Obama has signed fewer Executive Orders total (227) than:George W Bush (291)Bill Clinton (364)Ronald Reagan (381)Jimmy Carter (320)Richard Nixon (346)Lyndon B. Johnson (325)Dwight D. Eisenhower (484)Harry S. Truman (907)FDR (3,721 – remember, 3.5 terms)Herbert Hoover (968)Calvin Coolidge (1203)Warren G. Harding (522)
Or, to put it another way, of the last 20 presidents, he is ranked #16. And note several of the people above had only one term!If you correct for years in office, it’s just as striking:Obama (33/year)George W. Bush (36/year)Clinton (46/year)George HW Bush (42/year)Reagan (48/year)Jimmy Carter (80/year)Gerald Ford (69/year)Nixon (62/year)LBJ (63/year)JFK (75/year)Eisenhower (61/year)Truman (117/year)FDR (307/year)In fact, Obama has signed fewer per year than EVERY president going back to Grover Cleveland’s first term, which for the record was 1885-1889.I await your correction.
If you’re going to try that argument, then you need more than vague, data-free assertions to explain why Obama’s EOs are somehow worse than Bush’s, Reagan’s, FDR’s, JFK’s, etc.
Our entire system of government is meant to preclude models and skills used in the corporate world, which may be why presidents with business experience are not our most successful presidents.
pmaerzYour idea of fair: file bankruptcy whenever possible, leaving creditors with reduced or no payment for what they provided; refusing to pay honest wages, by using scab labor on all projects; suing anyone, including governments, who stand in the way of his will. These are from corporate media, not “liberal sources”.

Two of Trump’s three wives (another Family Values Republican, you know) were immigrants.
Another instance of imported workers taking jobs Americans don’t want.

Trump supporters will cover their ears when you try to explain what a bad businessman he is.

@braindead: The position in question: Trump’s wife, is very likely one that Americans REALLY don’t want.

Trump. The candidate for those who thought Palin was too intellectual. They are so perfect together.

Finally, Toles points out the obvious reason why Trump is not the businessman for the job. He is an embarrassment to us all.

Hey! Blamecasting is a big part of the job of being a GOP politician.

Anyone who would try to argue that Trump has not been a successful businessman is just being a fool. Although, that is par for the course with Toles…

With the high rate of business failures, why would anyone want to risk that approach for governing?

It’s all there, in Trump;s tome: blame the minions and use the fire-escape in emergencies! But, isn’t that what real Presidents do? Hummm?
