Transcript:
Boy: The first thing we need for our comic book is a title. Girl: In big, block capital letters! Boy: Something that sounds like something. Girl: Yeah! One of those words! Petey: Onomatopoeia? Boy: Yeah! But with an exclamation point - onomatopoeia! Girl: Now all we need is a big finish and some stuff between it and the title. Petey: Maybe a long awkward pause.

With ONOMATOPOEIA! on the cover, there’s no room for anything else.
Make your story about three cute, big-eyed magic hedgehogs who are trying to write a comic book. They come up with a title, but there’s an awkward pause while they try to think of a story.
Suddenly, one of them spontaneously combusts - Ka-FWOOOOSHHH!
The two remaining hedgehogs decide their comic will be about cute, big-eyed robot vampires who are writing a comic, but then there’s another awkward pause when they realize the one who exploded had their only pencil.
Suddenly, the second hedgehog is swallowed by a fissure in the earth’s crust - KRAKKAKKKAAAAKKKKK!
Then there’s a really long, really awkward pause as the sole surviving hedgehog (the one in the back) ponders the futility of creative endeavor in the face of fleeting existence in a random and hostle universe.
Twelve billion years later, the sun goes supernova - BAWHOOOOGHMZZZZZZZZOWWWWPPPP!!!!!!
In short, “Write what you know.”

OMG!—the unified efforts of Andre, Loris, Petey and fritzoid have me spellbound!

Upon reflection, instead of three hedgehogs it should be one roly-poly panda, one mop-haired gerbil, and one awkward, skinny chameleon (in the back, blending in with the wallpaper).
(Making Loris a loris would be too obvious.)

Excellent, Frizoid…are you doing the drawings, too?
Can’t wait to see them.

Long awkward pauses do usually result in climatic events .

ellisaana, I’d love to draw this out and distribute it, but (a) I don’t know how I’d go about showing it, and (b) I don’t want Richard to sue me…

I guess safasdfa is providing the stupid advertising we’ll find at the back of the comic book …

Here’s an onomatopoeia: ka-lit. (that is the sound of me clicking to the next comic because this is a great strip

I’m surprised that Petey didn’t suggest a blink and a throat clearing!
