In those days, if you could stand up to the bar, you could stand a pint. In Andy’s case it was a half-pint hoisting a pint !

So Chalkie is an enabler. What does he get out of it I wonder

We know from an old classic that “Only a Capp gets served faster than a Capp, right, Andy?” (Jackie rushes to serve Andy’s Mum her order.) Probably Andy’s Dad was also a heavy drinker. So I’d assume that Andy was dipping into their supply long before he met Chalkie (or at least long before Chalkie had any money to buy Andy a drink!)

@beviekAfter I went to see the World Series parade (where 800,000 of my closest friends prevented me from SEEING any of the dang thing!), I turned off from baseball and onto football. But now that spring training is right around the corner I’m looking forward to a great season!

You reminded me just then of my holding my grandson as he went through this ritual.
