So… the people where Daddy lives have not discovered this small useful thing called handles for grocery bags? I can’t imagine having to carry groceries like that… especially two bags at once… O.o
I’m with Beviek and Grog – I use a credit card with rewards and pay it off every month. I can’t remember the last time I paid any interest. At the end of the year I will have several hundred dollars in rewards which I use for Christmas.
Well, it does require disciplined approach to spending. In my younger days, I lacked that discipline. There are many people out there who don’t have a disciplined approach to anything.
99% of the time credit, which I pay off every month, and have plenty of gift cards and other “free” rewards I take advantage of. Like Perkycat I also use a lot at Christmas. My monthly bills, electric, cable, etc. I pay by check and the old fashioned "snail mail which really isn’t slow at all. Don’t have a debit card, don’t want one.
Interesting story, if you like interesting stories, if not, move on:
I needed a hair cut and was short on time and my regular barber was backed up so I tried one of those “chain” shops. I walk inside and was escorted to a chair where the gal who was to cut my hair asked me what number I was.
I replied, “Number? What do you mean by number? I just want a regular hair cut!”
She said, “So I know which adapter to use with the clipper?”
Again I replied, “I just want a regular hair cut.”
I have no idea what “adapter” she used and began “cutting” my hair. She was done after 15 minutes or so, and my head looked presentable (after all, I knew it would grow out and my regular guys would be able to get it back in shape)
The price of the cut was, as I recall, $16, so I handed the kid a $20 bill to which she replied, “What am I supposed to do with that? Don’t you want to use a credit card?”
I said, “For $16? I don’t think so?”
“Well, I will need your phone number”, she said.
“What for? I am paying with cash! Just give me $4 change and I am out’a here!”
Now she is calling her supervisor to find out how to use the cash register without a phone number. I stood there for a few seconds, and said,“I’m leaving. I can’t wait around for this nonsense!”, and headed for the door.
As I reached the door, she said, “Don’t you want your $4?”
“No!”, I said, “It is obvious you need it a lot more than I do…”
Cash for small purchases and lunches. Credit for most other things. I have 3 cards, all with rewards. Will ditch AmEx when Costco changes. Don’t know if I’ll then have 2 Visas (currently have Amazon one) or be able to use only one. Last one is Discover.

Cash only, I have a bad track record with credit and at most won’t have more than a debit card.

I know how to use credit properly, so I never carry much cash. Charge it and pay it all off by the due date.

As for shopping bags, I use cloth when I remember. Otherwise, the plastic bags, which come in real handy for putting the scooped litter box waste in.

@Tony
“Cash or credit?”
Whenever possible, I use cash; otherwise Amex.

What type of shopping bag do you use? (I use reusable cloth bags.)
Didn’t we have this question a few days ago?
