Down Memory Lane with Earl & Edna Earl: Hmmph. Edna: Something interesting, dear? Earl: These pictures of sea life in this article on the Galapagos Islands made me think of our first date. Edna: Umm...wait. What? Earl: A romantic drive along the coast, dinner at a nice restaurant on the wharf...it was a perfect evening... I remember it like it was yesterday! Edna: I see...so tell me, dear, what did we have for dinner yesterday? Earl: Ok, ok...it's just a figure of speech. Edna: Ah...well, that explains why food poisoning got buried in the lead of your romantic memory.

Hey, everyone forgets a few details now and then. That’s why I have my name sewn in my underwear, in case I forget who I am.

I don’t remember what I had for dinner yesterday either.
kittenpah about 14 years ago
Yesterday’s dinner is easy; it’s still talking to me.
I’d think the food poisoning would have been a prime part of the story. Makes it more fun to tell friends about in later years.

Funny but accurate. That’s exactly how your memory works in old age.

ksoskins about 14 years ago
That way I know how to orient my undershorts; the Yerbouti goes in the back.

The meal most recently eaten… To remember exactly would be defeatin’… The purpose of food digested… Is to feed the empty intestine… So that my belly is sated… My ego inflated…. And the wife’s input is just wasted…
