In his wonderful book, “How We Got to Now,” Steven Johnson tells how the cave paintings in Arcy-sur-Cure in France were clustered in specific parts of the cave where the acoustics, specifically, the reverberation were best. Perhaps the first words uttered by our early ancestors were, “more cowbell.”
