Sometimes one, sometimes many. Sometimes I can never tell which one’s which, because they have the same number and size of holes. Sometimes the holes are different sizes. Frustrating!
In my experience both in the US and Europe, a salt shaker has multiple holes, a pepper shaker just two or three. Personally I prefer to grind my own pepper.
neverenoughgoldWhat’s so oxymoronic about that? I know a few Anglicans who qualify and assume some other denominations have as well. My father was (usually called “elder” in Methodism) but I only made it to Deacon (but still an ordained order).
neverenoughgoldThat may be your personal dogma, but it is not the position of the Roman Catholic Church (to which I suspect you belong, hence the dogmatic approach). There are married priests today in full ministry in that body today (I knew one of them, a close friend of my father), and in the past, there have been three popes who were sons of popes, all legitimate. I find it a bit unchristian to say, as subtly you did, that I should never have been born. Also a bit disrespectful of your elders (I will be 83 in less than two months), also of Papa Francisco who may or may not be older than you.

What do you mean “other” cultures? Perhaps you should ask “Do cultures have etc.”

That’s also why I like the ones that are marked “S” & “P”.

Don’t use salt so I try a bit on my hand at the restaurant to determine which container is which. Always works
