A long time ago there was a similar cartoon in Beetle Bailey. The punch line was the computer nerd telling the general’s secretary, while referring to the general, “the older models can’t be upgraded.”
If they’re in orbit, it won’t crash. They might freeze to death, or die from lack of environmental support, but they won’t crash until the orbit decays which could take a while.
