Cathy Classics by Cathy Guisewite for August 13, 2010
Transcript:
Mom: I've told you for years you were taking too many pictures, but you wouldn't listen! What on earth will you do with so many pictures?!? ...Look at your pretty smile in this one! ...Look how your eyes sparkle in this one! ...Look at the cute way you turned your head! ...Look how lovely you are! I just want to squeeze you! Dad: When mother says there are too many pictures, she means there are too many pictures of other things besides her baby. Mom: Are there any more of you?

please start reruns when cathy retires

I wouldn’t mind seeing reruns from the late 70s, the strip’s early years. Those cartoons are really hard to find in ‘Cathy’ collections and they’d be seen for the 1st time by many

Yes, I only met Cathy two years ago so I would love to view her early strips

I’m willing to bet that the earlier strips would have more original gags in them… :-)
I met Sandra Bell Lundy of Between Friends a couple of years ago and got her to sign her comic collection book.
She even drew a quick character profile on the inside cover. That was pretty cool and surprisingly polished for a doodle. She lives in our area.
We talked about the evolution of her characters and she talked about future developments that we are just seeing now. That was really cool.

Back to the strip… at least she’s getting attention from someone. She’s sure not getting it from her husband (and at least she has the sense to roll her eyes at her mother’s blind praise).

Creator Cathy Guisewite Said Final Strip to Run in Newspapers on Sunday, Oct. 3. She wants to spend more time with her family, in particular her 18-year old daughter, who will be in her last year of high school.
I have also been reading “Cathy” for all 30 years, so I hope they do some reruns of the older ones. This has been one of my favorite comic strips since the beginning.
Best of luck to you, Ms. Guisewite!!

Our local newspaper quit carrying her a long time ago. I found Cathy here myself started reading the strip but got tired of it. My comment was one of many that was deleted yesterday. And my words and thoughts where clean. Just didn’t care for all that spending.

I bought all those early CATHY books back in the day. I still have them and they ARE worn a bit from lots of re-reads.
I’m not sure if you’d like the early Cathy. Her looks have evolved a lot and she looks really different and “raw”. The content is priceless, tho. Reading CATHY is like a $100 an hour shrink lesson in just four little printed panels. Guisewite is a genius!

Our local newspaper quit running Cathy quite a while ago and I sure miss her. I really related to her and her problems of finding a mate and then the troubles with him. Our paper still has her in the Sunday paper. I hope that continues for awhile. For those of you who don’t like Cathy the comic, then don’t read it. Like who reads newspapers anymore anyway.

So you seek it out here to degrade it – that makes a lot of sense doesn’t it? Why don’t you just get a life and leave other folks to enjoy the lives they have.
