Better enjoy ā€™em while they last. Incandescents are getting to be an endangered species.

Agreed. He would have come up with something much more advancedā€¦but youā€™d have to buy them in groups of threes.

I simply refuse to use the curly bulbs. They emit UV rays, and can cause the same sorts of problems as prolonged exposed to the sun, plus you canā€™t use them in enclosed spaces, which eliminates most of the light fixtures in our house.

Now that the price has dropped Iā€™m converting to LEDā€™s. The ā€˜curlyā€™ ones darken after a while and take time to get bright, especially when itā€™s cold. The LEDā€™s come on instantly and are actually brighter than CFLā€™s of the same wattage. They have the added advantage that thereā€™s no mercury inside.

I donā€™t care if they are on sale; I just like to see the ones with ā€œMade in USAā€ and buy them whenever possibleā€¦

After trying to find some clear 6o watt bulbs locally and striking out, I found an on-line company that had them so I got a few more than I needed, and then I found that they are making halogen bulbs that are perfect and that Loweā€™s had them in stock and the price is right too!

I just finished replacing all my incandescent bulbs with CFL bulbs when the LED dropped to an affordable price. It may take a while to use up my stock of CFL bulbs, but I already bought some LED bulbs that are OK to use in closed fixtures. I also replaced a couple of CFS bulbs in cold locations.

I have a ā€œBrunswickā€ victrola and it works fine! When the power grid fails in the future, and it will fail, Iā€™ll still have musicā€¦

ā€¦for a while anyway, until I can no longer turn the crank to wind the spring!
