I see a few things that could happen. Nate could go with Trudy and it will be a disaster, just like last time. Or Nate could go to the Cartooning Club meeting and make Trudy sad. OR he could invite Trudy to the meeting and go skating the next day.

All Nate has to do is tell her he really wants to go, and she will understand.

maybe Nate can ask Trudy to come to the cartooning club so she can go rollerskating later.

First, Nate should tell Trudy about his true feelings about Trudy being around and taking fun out of him. Then, Nate should just do what he wants to do, with Trudy. After all, she seems perfect knowing that he’s a 6th grader and has many exotic sides to him.

Trudy might be an awesome goalie. Reminds me of Hope Solo. That would add insult to injury for Nate, schooling the lowly 6th graders: “No pain no gain Nate!”

If I had to guess who that professional cartoonist is, I would say Raina Telgemeier. I like her graphic novels! Don’t blow it, Nate!! What’s more important, a date with your girlfriend or a once in a lifetime chance to meet a professional cartoonist?
