Always get the best cards from my sister. Todayâs:âMay the road rise up to meet youâŚBut NOT suddenly and painfully in the face!âWishing a Safe & Happy St. Patrickâs Day to all on this board (from someone actually of Irish descent).
Oh, I forgot: Happy St. Patrickâs Day for all. I do have some ancestors who lived in Ireland for a generation or two, but I understand that they were sent there from England.
I have not a bit of Irish blood in me (unless you go back to the 7th century, when we may have picked up some imported Irish genes, explaining the tendency to reddish hair in my fatherâs line), but on the other hand a large number of my cousins are half-Irish and carry an Irish patronymic. Happy St. Patrickâs Day!
While coffee has traditionally been associated (rightly or wrongly) with sobering up someone who is, in Spicyâs term, plastered, the dunking of the drunkâs hands into a bucket of hot coffee is rather unorthodox. Indeed, Iâve never seen or heard of it before now.Todayâs strip plays almost like a bit of comic relief, except that for Spicy and Specs the stakes are real and high.
What ! the Queenâs budget wasnât big enough to send them to Oz ?
Well, the story I was told was something about one ancestor being the Chancellor of the Exchequer (equivalent to the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury) who was awarded the farm in Ireland as a reward. Later on, it was owned by two brothers, one of whom came to Canada. When the remaining one died, the one in Canada would have had to move back to Ireland or give up the property. He stayed in Canada. Or at least thatâs the story I heard.
Night-Gaunt49 questioned,I see you brought the green worms, are they still alive? They tickle as they go down if they are alive.-ââââââââââââââââââââââââ-.Of course they are still alive! We wouldnât eat them any other way! Yummy!

Me too, that little bit of extra expression is always neat. I guess you could say that Specâs specs are SPECial.
